Painting Company Website Development Company That Books Estimates

We build websites for residential and commercial painters that turn interior, exterior, cabinet and repaint searches into booked estimate visits, with real job photos by city, a pre-1978 home question on every form, and every call and estimate request tracked to its source.

The short answer

What does a painting company website development company do?

A painting company website development company builds the website a residential or commercial painter uses to win estimates: a page for each service (interior, exterior, cabinet painting, deck and fence staining, commercial repaints), job write-ups with before-and-after photos by city, an estimate form that collects scope and photos, and tracking that shows which calls and requests turned into booked jobs.

Your site has two very different buyers. A homeowner wants to see kitchens and siding you have already painted near them, your warranty in writing, proof you are licensed, insured and lead-safe certified for an older home, and an easy way to book the walk-through. A property manager or HOA board wants markets served, night and weekend scheduling, phased work, a certificate of insurance and a bid deadline that you can meet. A gallery and a contact form serve neither of them well.

Billion Web Studio builds both paths on one site, sends estimate requests straight into PaintScout, DripJobs, Jobber or Housecall Pro with the lead source attached, and gives you a gallery you can update from your phone after every job. You own the domain, code, content and accounts from day one.

The market

What the numbers say about painting contractors online

Painting is a crowded, owner-run trade: the Bureau of Labor Statistics counts 31% of painters as self-employed, and IBISWorld estimates industry revenue will drop 1.0% in 2026 as new detached housing starts and home improvement spending fall. Demand has not gone away: paint is still the most purchased home improvement product, bought by 62% of renovating homeowners in the 2026 Houzz and Home Study. The work goes to the painter a homeowner trusts within a few minutes on a phone.

How they choose

How customers find and choose a painting company

Nobody hires a painter on impulse, but they do shortlist fast. Here is how a US homeowner or property manager usually picks a painting company, and what your site has to do at each step.

  1. 1

    A trigger with a deadline

Peeling trim before spring, a house going on the market, a dated oak kitchen, a rental turnover, or an HOA board told to repaint 40 buildings. The site needs a page for each of these jobs, so the person lands on cabinet painting or pre-listing paint, not a homepage. This is the core of house painting website design.

  2. 2

    A search on a phone

For 73% of consumers, their most recent local search started on a phone, 61% began on Google Search or Google Maps, and 8% started with an AI tool (BrightLocal, 2026). Your service pages, city job pages and Google Business Profile have to say the same thing, so you show up wherever they start.

  3. 3

    A shortlist of three

They compare star ratings, review counts, recent photos and how clear you are about the process. The site must show your rating and review count near the estimate button, real before-and-after pairs from their area, your warranty term and your license number.

  4. 4

    The estimate request

They send photos of the rooms or siding, pick a walk-through slot or call. A two-step form (service and ZIP first, then scope, photos, timing and home age) gets more requests and screens out fake inquiries, and it lands in your estimating tool with the source attached.

  5. 5

    The walk-through and the decision

After your visit they compare written estimates. Automatic confirmation texts, a job page they can forward to their spouse or board, and estimate follow-up from your CRM keep you in the decision while competitors go quiet.

The problem

Why most painting company websites lose booked jobs

What we find again and again when we audit sites in this trade. None of it is about how the site looks.

Leak 01

The gallery stopped in 2021

Many painting sites were launched with a burst of photos and never touched again, because adding a job means emailing a web person. Homeowners look for recent work on homes like theirs, and a stale gallery reads as a company that has slowed down.

Leak 02

Cabinets and commercial are buried

Cabinet painting and refinishing is a high-ticket, year-round service, yet it is often one line on an interior page. Commercial and HOA repaints get the same contact form as a bedroom repaint, so property managers move on to a painter who shows markets served and a bid process.

Leak 03

The estimate form asks nothing

Name, email, message. You learn nothing about rooms, siding type, square footage, timing or whether the house was built before 1978, so you drive 35 minutes to price a job that was never real or that needs lead-safe work you did not plan for.

Leak 04

No proof of license, insurance or lead-safe work

Many painting sites show no license number, no insurance, no warranty term and no EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm logo, even when the firm holds all of them. Homeowners comparing three painters read that silence as risk, and some states require the number in advertising, websites included.

Leak 05

Paying for leads that were never real

Painters on PaintTalk describe the same pattern: a lead platform sending scam texts and job seekers, a painter-only agency where one lead in five became an estimate, and a builder plan that nearly tripled in price. When the fee rises or the contract ends, the leads and the site go with it, and you own nothing that keeps working.

Leak 06

No idea which leads became jobs

Calls, texts, yard sign scans and form fills all arrive with no source attached, so you cannot tell whether the agency, the Google profile or the postcard drop produced the kitchen job. Painters judge spend by estimates and jobs sold, and most sites cannot report either.

Generic vs built for you

Why a generic website fails painting contractors

A template is built to fit every business, so it fits yours badly. Here is what changes when the site is planned around how customers actually buy.

What you need

What every painting company website needs

The features that turn a painting company website from a brochure into the best salesperson you have. We build all of them.

  1. Must-have · 01

Sticky call, text and estimate buttons

On a phone, call, text and "Free estimate" stay at the bottom of the screen on every page, with a text option for customers who would rather not phone while you are on a job.

  2. Must-have · 02

A page per service you want more of

Interior, exterior (wood, vinyl, brick, stucco, fiber cement), cabinet painting and refinishing, deck and fence staining, drywall repair, popcorn ceiling and wallpaper removal, epoxy garage floors, each with its own process, products and FAQs.

  3. Must-have · 03

    Before-and-after sliders you can update

Paired photos by service and city, uploaded from your phone in the CMS, sized and lazy loaded so a photo-heavy page still loads fast on mobile data.

  4. Must-have · 04

Job write-ups that feed city pages

A short page per finished job: city, home age, surfaces, prep and repairs, paint products, before and after photos, and the customer's review. These are what make a city page worth ranking.

  5. Must-have · 05

Two-step estimate form with photo upload

Step one takes service, ZIP and phone. Step two asks rooms or exterior scope, photos, preferred start month, how they heard about you and "Was your home built before 1978?" with a not-sure option.

  6. Must-have · 06

    Online walk-through booking

Customers pick an in-home estimate slot, or a short video walk-through for standard repaints, through Jobber's assessment booking, DripJobs' booking form or your current tool, and the same link goes on your Google Business Profile.

  7. Must-have · 07

    Commercial bid request and documents

Property type, square footage or units, occupied or vacant, after-hours needs, bid due date and drawing upload, plus a one-click request for your certificate of insurance, W-9 and safety program.

  8. Must-have · 08

    Warranty page in plain terms

How many years, what is covered (peeling, blistering, flaking), what is not, and how to request a touch-up, with an optional annual inspection and touch-up program for past customers.

  9. Must-have · 09

    License, insurance and lead-safe block

License or registration number in the footer of every page, insurance, employees or subcontractors, background checks, the paint lines you use, Painting Contractors Association membership where you hold it, and the Lead-Safe Certified Firm logo with your number only if your firm is currently certified.

  10. Must-have · 10

Cost guide pages with your real ranges

A page per big job (exterior repaint, interior rooms, kitchen cabinets) that explains what moves the price: square footage, siding type, prep and repairs, number of colors, paint line. Ranges come only from your own past jobs, and every page ends in the estimate form. In BrightLocal's 2026 study, 32% of consumers chose not to contact a business because of unclear pricing or no offers.

  11. Must-have · 11

Review request at the final walk-through

One tap sends every customer your Google review link at closeout, with no gating and no paid positive reviews, and fresh reviews flow onto service and city pages.

  12. Must-have · 12

    HousePainter schema and fast pages

Schema.org HousePainter markup with area served, services and hours, and Core Web Vitals targets of LCP 2.5 seconds or less, INP 200 ms or less and CLS 0.1 or less.

Calls, bookings, leads

How we turn visitors into booked jobs

Good painter website design is measured in walk-throughs and signed estimates, not visits. Here is how we build the site to get requests, screen them and show you where each one came from.

  • 01Two-step estimate form that pre-qualifiesThe first step keeps the phone number even if they abandon the rest. The second step's photos and scope let you spot fake text inquiries, out-of-area requests and price shoppers before you get in the truck.
  • 02Straight into your estimating toolRequests post into PaintScout lead forms, DripJobs, Jobber or Housecall Pro with the source set (website, Google Ads, Google Business Profile), so your follow-up sequence starts at once and you do not stitch tools together with Zapier.
  • 03Walk-through booking on the site and on GoogleCustomers pick an estimate slot online, and the same booking link sits on your Google Business Profile, so evening searches become booked visits instead of voicemails.
  • 04Call tracking that separates real calls from spamTracked numbers by source, recorded in your own account, so you see which page or ad produced each call and can tell real homeowners from the daily "Google listing" sales calls.
  • 05Instant confirmation by text or emailEvery request gets a confirmation with the next step and your photo and name, sent with consent wording on the form, because a fast reply keeps you on a shortlist of three.
  • 06Measurable yard signs, door hangers and postcardsShort URLs and QR codes that point to a neighborhood or offer page, so the winter postcard drop and the yard sign at a finished job show up in GA4 like any other source.
  • 07Reporting on booked estimates, not raw leadsGA4 events for calls, texts, forms and bookings, matched to the source field in your CRM, so you can see cost per booked estimate for the site, Local Services Ads and any lead platform you still pay for.

AI search

45% of consumers used ChatGPT or another AI tool for local recommendations in BrightLocal's 2026 review survey, up from 6% in the previous survey. In BrightLocal's study of more than 200,000 local AI searches, business websites made up about 93% of cited domains, and service-area businesses, which is how most painters operate, were named less often than storefronts. Your own site has to give AI tools clear, specific facts to quote.

Questions your customers ask AI assistants

  • Who is the best painting company for cabinet refinishing near me?
  • My house was built in 1965. Do I need a lead-safe certified painter?
  • Should I paint or replace my kitchen cabinets?
  • What is the best time of year to paint a house exterior in Denver?
  • Which commercial painters can repaint an occupied office at night?
  • How do I choose a house painter, and what warranty should I expect?
  • Answer the questions homeowners actually ask

Plain answers on your service pages about coats applied, prep, cure times, how often to repaint, paint or replace cabinets, and the best exterior season in your climate, written so an assistant can quote a sentence.

  • Facts AI can verify

License number, insurance, Lead-Safe Certified Firm status with number, warranty term, years in business and employees or subcontractors, stated in text on the page, not inside an image.

  • One set of facts everywhere

Google Business Profile made up 45% of AI citations for service businesses in BrightLocal's 2026 source study, ahead of Yelp, Facebook and BBB. We keep your name, phone, services and service area identical on the site, the profile and the directories AI reads.

  • Job pages that prove local experience

An assistant asked about cabinet painting in one suburb can cite a page about a kitchen you painted there, with photos and the customer's review. A service-area painter has no storefront to point to, so these pages do that job.

  • Schema markup for painters

HousePainter, Service and FAQPage markup with area served, services and hours, so search engines and AI tools read your business as data rather than guessing. We do not add star ratings for reviews on your own site, which Google treats as self-serving.

  • Prompt checks, not promises

We test the prompts your customers use in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Perplexity before and after launch and show you the results. Nobody can guarantee an AI will name you, and we will not.

Compliance and trust

The rules a painting company website has to get right

A painting website carries rules most web agencies never mention: lead-safe work in older homes, license numbers in ads, review rules and texting consent. EPA takes lead-safe work seriously: in November 2025 a national home improvement retailer agreed to a $12.5 million penalty over renovation jobs in 23 states where lead hazard information was not given to residents and no certified renovator was assigned. We build the forms, pages and wording that support these rules. We do not certify legal compliance, so confirm your state rules with your licensing board and EPA or your state lead program.

EPA lead-safe work in pre-1978 homes

Firms whose painting disturbs lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and kindergartens built before 1978 must be EPA or state certified and use certified renovators. We add the home-age question to your forms and a lead-safe page that explains containment, cleanup and the Renovate Right pamphlet without promising health outcomes.

Lead-Safe Certified Firm logo

EPA allows certified firms to use the logo on websites, but it must show your certification number legibly, cannot be altered or shrunk below the minimum size, cannot imply EPA endorsement and cannot be used by a firm that is not currently certified. We place it only where those conditions hold.

License and registration numbers

California requires the license number in all forms of advertising, websites included, and lets licensees advertise only within their classification (C-33 for painting). Washington requires the registration number in advertising that shows your name or address. We put the number in the footer of every page and on About and Contact.

Honest reviews (FTC rule)

The FTC's Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule, in effect since October 2024, bans fake reviews and incentives that require a positive or negative review. We build a review request sent to every customer at closeout, with no gating, and we do not add star markup to reviews you control, which Google treats as self-serving.

Texting consent and financing wording

Automated marketing texts need prior express written consent under the TCPA rules, and a STOP reply must be honored within ten business days. Forms carry clear consent wording and a separate SMS terms page. A "repaint for a monthly payment" banner triggers Regulation Z disclosures, so financing pages state full terms or avoid payment amounts.

Accessible galleries and color tools

DOJ guidance says the ADA applies to the websites of businesses open to the public. Before-and-after sliders, color visualizers and estimate forms are built to work with a keyboard, with alt text, labels and readable contrast.

We build with tools and patterns that support these rules and document what we set up. For legal advice on your own obligations, talk to your attorney.

From the forums

What painting contractors ask about websites, answered

We read the threads where painting contractors talk about websites, leads and Google, mostly on PaintTalk, the pros-only painting forum, and the Local Search Forum. These are questions owners asked, paraphrased, with what experienced owners answered and how we build for it.

Where owners talkPaintTalk.com, Business, Marketing, and Sales forumPaintTalk.com, Technology and Software forumLocal Search ForumPainting Contractors Association local chapters (recommended by owners on PaintTalk)

Asked on PaintTalk, Business, Marketing, and Sales

“An agency built my site and now wants a large monthly retainer for SEO, Local Services Ads, Maps and paid ads. How do I know if it is worth it?”

Our answer: Owners pointed out the agency had very few Google reviews of its own and that advertising usually runs at 2 to 5% of revenue, so a big retainer only fits a much larger company. Before signing anything, get a written scope, confirm you own the site and domain, and ask for reporting on booked estimates, not just leads. Our quote is fixed, and you own everything from day one.

Asked on PaintTalk, Business, Marketing, and Sales

“We hired a painter-focused marketing agency and spent more than we sold. Only about one lead in five became an estimate. What works for winter?”

Our answer: Owners had better luck with winter-special postcards sent to neighborhoods they had already painted, a Google profile kept fresh with new job photos and reviews, and real job photos in community groups. We build winter interior and cabinet pages, give each postcard its own URL or QR code, and track estimates and jobs by source so you can see lead quality, not just volume.

Asked on PaintTalk, Business, Marketing, and Sales

“My site builder fee nearly tripled after my host partnered with a big website builder. What do other painters pay, and where should I host?”

Our answer: Replies compared builder plans and noted the fee goes up because you are renting the builder's editor; one suggested moving to your own hosting. We build on a CMS you own, with the domain and hosting in your name, so there is no platform to be priced out of later.

Asked on PaintTalk, Business, Marketing, and Sales

“I have paid a home-services lead platform since spring and most leads were fake or scams. Is that normal?”

Our answer: Several owners reported the same: scam calls, job seekers instead of homeowners, and sales reps who kept calling after they cancelled. One called the website your number one asset, to be improved over time alongside Google Ads, Local Services Ads and organic search. Keep any platform that pays for itself, but build the site and your Google profile as the lead source you own.

Asked on PaintTalk, Business, Marketing, and Sales

“My dad never took the company online and we have no Google reviews. Should we give customers a gift card for each review?”

Our answer: Owners advised against paying for positive reviews and said timing matters most: ask at the final walk-through, while the customer is happy, and send the link right away. The FTC rule bans incentives that require a positive review, and FTC staff warn other review incentives can still raise concerns. We build an automatic review request at job closeout that goes to every customer.

Asked on PaintTalk, Technology and Software

“I get 10 to 20 spam calls a day, most selling Google listings. How do real customers still reach me?”

Our answer: Owners now push customers to text or email and suggested a phone menu that asks callers to press 1 for the estimator. We put text and a short estimate form beside the phone number, and use tracked numbers so you can see which calls came from your pages and ads and ignore the rest.

Asked on PaintTalk, Technology and Software

“Which CRM do you use for customers, quotes and appointments? I am tired of wiring tools together with Zapier.”

Our answer: Owners named DripJobs, HubSpot, Jobber, Odoo and paint-specific tools, and several complained about stitching systems together. We do not ask you to switch: the site's estimate form posts into the tool you already run, with the lead source recorded, so there is one clean handoff.

Asked on PaintTalk, Business, Marketing, and Sales

“A customer sent me a listing link instead of booking a walk-through. Can I estimate from photos?”

Our answer: Some owners give a photo-based range for standard repaints to pre-qualify before visiting; others never price without seeing the job, and two warned these requests are sometimes scams. Photo upload on the form plus an optional video walk-through booking gives you the same pre-check on your terms.

Asked on PaintTalk, Business, Marketing, and Sales

“We are about to drop 2,500 door hangers in higher-end neighborhoods. How many leads should we expect per 1,000?”

Our answer: One owner saw roughly one call per 100 and would add a coupon next time. Another only hangs them around current jobs, with the job address printed on the hanger. A third tracks hangers with QR codes that go to specific pages and found yard signs beat them. We give every hanger, postcard and yard sign its own short URL or QR code pointing to a neighborhood or offer page, so you can see which drop booked estimates.

Asked on Local Search Forum

“Our Google Business Profile was suspended after we changed our address under new ownership. What now?”

Our answer: Replies pointed to Google's appeals tool, and another owner had the same suspension after an address change. We handle profile updates carefully at launch, and your website keeps your services, areas, license and contact details live and findable while any profile issue is resolved.

Questions are paraphrased from public threads. We never quote members by name.

Why Billion Web Studio

What we do better, and why it matters to you

  • Built for how painters sell

Service pages for interior, exterior, cabinets and commercial, job write-ups that prove local work, and a walk-through booking flow, because painting is sold on photos, trust and a site visit, not a cart.

  • Your estimating tool, not ours

We connect the form to PaintScout, DripJobs, Jobber, Housecall Pro or whatever you run, with the source attached. If you change tools next year, the website stays.

  • The rules other agencies skip

Lead-safe work for pre-1978 homes, logo use only with your certification number, license numbers where states require them, and honest review requests, built in from the start.

  • You own everything from day one

Domain, code, design, content, analytics and profile access sit in your name. No minimum term and no rented site that disappears when a contract ends.

  • A fixed quote and a dated plan

A free audit of your current site and a fixed quote within 1 business day, then a week-by-week plan and written updates every week. If we slip a date because of us, the next month of support is free.

  • Built for your season, not just launch day

We plan the site around your calendar: exterior pages and booking windows live before spring, winter interior, cabinet and commercial off-hours pages ready for the slow months, and tracked URLs for postcards and yard signs. Technical SEO, schema and AI-readable answers are part of the build, and our sister SEO agency, Billion Game, works on search every day.

In writing, before we start

  • Fixed quote in 1 business day

Scope, deliverables and price agreed in writing, with a free audit of your current site. No hourly billing.

  • You own everything

Code, design, content, domain and accounts are yours from day one. No 12-month contract, no rented site.

  • 30 days of support included

Proof, not promises

Results from websites we have built

We have not built a website for a painting company yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. What transfers is the system. Blues Renewables is a local rooftop solar installer that, like a painter, wins high-ticket home jobs from local searches. We built service pages, 129 local area guides, click-to-call and tracked quote forms, and the business went from no tracked leads to 7 to 10 inquiries a week, with Google clicks rising from 14 to 560 a fortnight in two months. A painter needs the same structure: a page per service and area, fast calls and forms, and every lead tracked. Terah Tex's two-step quote form, now bringing about 5 bulk-order leads a week, is the pattern behind our two-step estimate form and commercial bid request.

How much does a painting company website cost?

We give a fixed quote, agreed before work starts, based on pages, features, integrations and content, within 1 business day of a free audit of your current site. The main drivers are how many service and city pages you need, whether you do commercial work, and which estimating software we connect. There is no hourly billing.

Most painting company sites take 4 to 8 weeks. If you need many city pages built from real job write-ups, plan on 8 to 12 weeks. Launching in late winter gives the site time to be indexed before exterior season, and you get a dated week-by-week plan before we start.

Will the website work with PaintScout, DripJobs, Jobber or Housecall Pro?

Yes. Estimate requests post into the tool you already use with the lead source attached, and we can embed online walk-through booking from Jobber or DripJobs. Your service and city pages stay outside the widget so search engines can read them, and a later switch of tools does not require a new website.

Should I have separate pages for interior, exterior, cabinets and commercial painting?

Yes. People search for each service separately, and a cabinet customer, an exterior customer and a property manager need different proof and different questions. One services page cannot rank for all of them or answer what each buyer wants to know.

Do I need city pages, and won't Google call them spam?

City pages work when each one is built from real jobs in that city, with photos, details and the customer's review. Google's spam policies target pages that only swap the city name. We build them from your job write-ups and only for areas you actually serve.

Can I update the gallery myself after every job?

Yes. The site runs on an editable CMS, and we train you or your office manager to post before-and-after photos and a short job write-up from a phone. Photos are resized automatically so pages stay fast.

Can I put the EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm logo on my website?

Only if your firm is currently EPA or state certified, and the logo must show your certification number legibly without alterations or any suggestion of EPA endorsement. We place it on the site only under those conditions and add a page that explains how your crew handles pre-1978 homes.

Do I have to show my contractor license number on my website?

In some states, yes. California requires the license number in all advertising, websites included, and Washington requires the registration number in ads that show your name or address. Other states differ, so check with your licensing board; we put the number in the footer of every page.

How will my painting company show up in ChatGPT and Google AI answers?

AI tools draw on your website, your Google Business Profile, review sites and directories. We write clear answers about your services, warranty, license, lead-safe status and areas, add HousePainter schema and keep your details consistent everywhere. We test the prompts customers use, but nobody can guarantee an AI will name you.

How do I get more Google reviews without breaking the rules?

Ask every customer at the final walk-through and send the link the same day. Do not pay for positive reviews or only ask happy customers; the FTC rule bans incentives that require a positive or negative review. We build an automatic closeout request into the site and your workflow.

I rent my site on a monthly plan. Can I switch without losing my rankings?

Usually yes, if the move is planned. We confirm the domain is in your name or help you transfer it, carry over your content and photos, redirect every old URL to its new page, and check Search Console after launch. The free audit shows what your current provider controls.

Can the site screen out the fake text inquiries painters keep getting?

It cuts most of them. The two-step form asks for ZIP, scope, photos and timing before it reaches you, so scam requests and out-of-area leads stand out, and tracked call numbers show which calls came from your pages and ads. Ownership is covered too: you own the domain, code, content and accounts from day one.

Can the site help me fill the winter slow season?

Yes. We build interior, cabinet and commercial off-hours pages that you push in winter, seasonal offer pages with clear terms, and tracked URLs for postcards to past customers, so you can see which winter campaign booked jobs.

Do you guarantee rankings or a number of jobs?

No, and be wary of any painting contractor web design company that does. We commit to a dated plan, technical SEO, schema, speed targets and full call, form and booking tracking, so you can see exactly what the site produces.
