The best car dealership websites do not try to out-browse the marketplaces. They win the second visit with the real price, the real car and a reason to buy from this lot.
In this article

Key takeaways

  • ✓The best car dealership websites put search, price and a reason to buy from this lot in the first screen.
  • ✓Show the all-in price with the doc fee on every car, and say what is extra.
  • ✓Give trade-in, pre-qualification and financing their own clear doors, with the right disclosures.
  • ✓Write pages for your niche, your town and the buyers you serve best, not one generic inventory page.

The best car dealership websites share one habit: they make the second visit easy. A shopper finds a car on a marketplace, then opens the dealer's own site to check the real price, see the exact car, value a trade and find out whether they will be approved. The strongest independent dealer sites answer all four in the first screen and give a clear reason to buy from this lot. Below are 10 live US examples, what to copy from each, a checklist and the mistakes we see most.

That second visit decides the sale. Cox Automotive's 2025 Car Buyer Journey study found that 77% of used vehicle buyers used third-party sites and 60% used dealership websites, visiting 4.8 sites on average. It also found 48% of buyers want to apply for credit online but only 33% do.

What the best car dealership websites have in common

  • Search in the first screen. A make, model or keyword box under the headline, plus quick links by body style and price. Shoppers come to look at cars, not to read about you.
  • The price a buyer will actually pay. The FTC's September 2026 pricing transparency FAQs for auto dealers say any page showing an amount a consumer may pay, including inventory search and vehicle pages, should show the actual price, with mandatory fees such as the doc fee, as the most prominent amount.
  • Separate doors for buying, selling and financing. Trade-in value, "sell us your car" and pre-qualification each get a menu item and a button.
  • A clear reason to buy from this lot. An inspection count, an included warranty, an exchange policy, in-house financing, a niche or decades in the same town.
  • Real photos of the exact car. The same FTC FAQs say used cars should be shown with photos of the actual vehicle.
  • Local proof. The town in the headline, the address and hours in the header, named staff and dated reviews. BrightLocal's 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey found 97% of consumers read reviews for local businesses.
  • Pages for the buyers you serve best. Bad credit, first-time buyers, military families, out-of-state buyers or Spanish speakers each get their own page.

The 10 best car dealership websites in 2026

These are live websites of US independent and used car dealers, from single-lot family businesses to a 14-location group, checked on 20 October 2026.

1. R&B Car Company: proof and search side by side

R&B Car Company homepage: one of the best car dealership websites, with a 4.36 rating from 686 reviews above the headline and a make and model search box
The rating, the stock count and the search box all sit in the first screen.

R&B Car Company in Warsaw, Indiana, fits most of this list into one screen. A rating, "4.36 (686 ratings)," sits above a headline that names the product and the town, "Used Cars, Trucks & SUVs for Sale in Warsaw, IN." The next line gives a stock count (258 vehicles) and three promises: market-based pricing, financing and no hidden fees. A search card on the right offers a keyword box or make and model dropdowns.

Five cards below split the jobs a visitor came to do: inventory, financing, the MAX Allowance trade-in, service and specials. A note under the prices says the dealer doc fee is included in the "Market Price" and that tax, title and license are extra. The financing section lists who it serves, from first-time buyers to self-employed applicants.

Copy this: put your review count, stock count and a search box together in the first screen, and say in one line what the price includes.

2. Moyer Pre-Owned: list price, doc fee and all-in price on every card

Moyer Pre-Owned homepage: a Used cars in Berks and Lebanon counties headline with a search box beside a photo of a used car lot
The eyebrow, Six dealerships. One place to start, explains the whole site.

Moyer Pre-Owned pools used inventory from six Moyer stores in Berks and Lebanon counties, Pennsylvania. The eyebrow reads "Six dealerships. One place to start," the subhead promises "Real vehicles. Clear prices. A Moyer team nearby," and the menu ends with a blue "Sell or trade" button.

The pricing is the part to copy. Each vehicle card shows three lines, List Price, Documentation Fee ($490) and All-In Price, then "Tax, title and registration are additional." Finance specials carry the APR, term, "Not all buyers will qualify" and an end date, and Google reviews are quoted with the reviewer's name and month.

Copy this: show the doc fee as its own line and the all-in price on every vehicle card, and make the all-in price the number that stands out.

3. Gravity Autos: one search across 14 locations

Gravity Autos homepage: a Luxury used cars, trucks and SUVs headline over a photo of a Gravity Autos store, with a search bar and a 14 Locations selector
The location picker sits in the top-left corner, before the logo.

Gravity Autos sells luxury used cars from stores in Georgia, Illinois and Florida, and one search covers all of them. A "14 Locations" picker sits in the top-left corner, the hero names the brands it specializes in, and the search bar sits on a photo of its own store, not a stock car.

"Browse by Style" tiles cover SUVs, cars, electric, convertibles and trucks, and each "New Arrivals" card names the store where the car is parked. The Finance menu includes "Pre-qualify with Capital One" and a loan calculator, and "Favorites" and "Recently Viewed" sit in the header for returning shoppers.

Copy this: if you run more than one lot, show which lot each car is on, right on the card.

4. Beach Family Automotive: in-house financing in one table

Beach Family Automotive homepage: a Used Cars Anderson, IN headline beside a table listing in-house financing, all credit types, weekly or bi-weekly payments and no credit check pre-qualifying
The table answers a buy here pay here shopper's first five questions.

Beach Family Automotive in Anderson, Indiana, is a buy here pay here dealer and a repair shop. Beside the headline, a table titled "The Beach Family difference" answers the first questions a credit-challenged shopper asks: financing "In-house," credit "All types," payments "Weekly / bi-weekly," every car "Shop-inspected" and pre-qualifying "No credit check." The phone number and "Get Pre-Qualified" sit under the headline.

"Three ways in" links to separate pages for Buy Here Pay Here, In-House Financing and Bad Credit, so each search phrase has a landing page. The repair shop is a selling point: every car is inspected "on our own lifts." An FAQ says plainly that approval is not guaranteed, and the footer states that cars are sold as-is unless a written warranty is provided.

Copy this: if you finance in-house, answer the payment schedule, credit and down payment questions in the first screen, and give each financing phrase its own page.

5. Off Lease Only: policies as tiles, in two languages

Off Lease Only homepage: an English and Espanol toggle and a Call number in the top bar above a Purple Means Peace of Mind banner and Apply for Financing and Sell Us Your Car tiles
Warranty and Delivery are top-level menu items, next to Financing.

Off Lease Only runs five stores across Florida, and its homepage reads like a list of reasons to buy. The top bar starts with an "English / Español" toggle, and the menu puts Warranty and Delivery next to Inventory and Financing. Tiles under the banner sell one policy each: no-haggle pricing, a "5 Day/500-Mile Free Exchange Policy," delivery within 50 miles of a store and "Get an Offer in Minutes!" for sellers.

The Inventory and Financing menus each have a page per city, plus shortcut lists such as "$10,999 and Under" and "Clean Carfax." Each store's address, phone number and hours are on the homepage.

Copy this: turn each buyer promise (exchange window, delivery radius, pricing policy) into its own tile and page, and add Spanish pages if you sell in Spanish.

6. Quinn Motor Car: every car shot on the same turntable

Quinn Motor Car homepage: the address, today's hours and phone number in the header, a CarGurus Top-Rated Dealer slide and featured vehicles photographed on an indoor turntable
Most featured cars are shot on the same indoor turntable.

Quinn Motor Car in Sand Lake, New York, shows what consistent photos do for a small lot. Most featured vehicles, from a Jeep Wrangler to a Cadillac XT4, are photographed on the same turntable in the same indoor studio, so the row looks like one cared-for collection. The header carries the street address, "Today 9-6pm" and the phone number.

Four photo tiles beside the hero cover inventory, service, online financing and testimonials. "Shipping Quote" is a main menu item for out-of-area buyers, and a payment estimator lets a shopper pick a credit tier and term before calling. The intro names the towns served: Albany, Troy, Schenectady and Syracuse.

Copy this: shoot every car in the same spot with the same angles and light, and put today's hours next to your phone number.

7. Perfect Auto Collection: built for buyers who never visit

Perfect Auto Collection homepage: a menu with Nationwide Home Delivery and Buyer Research above a full-width photo of a Ferrari on the road
Nationwide Home Delivery is the third item in the main menu.

Perfect Auto Collection in Akron, Ohio, sells exotic and luxury cars and says most of its business comes from out of state. The menu is shaped around that buyer: "Nationwide Home Delivery," "Buyer Research" (including its return policy) and "Sell My Car" sit beside Inventory and Finance.

A "Nationwide buyers welcome" section offers live video walkthroughs of the exterior, interior and engine bay, with a "Schedule a video call" button, and a shipping block covers enclosed or open transport and paperwork. Featured cars link to their history reports, and a "Sold Inventory" page shows what has already left.

Copy this: if you sell to buyers far away, offer a live video walkaround and explain shipping on its own page.

8. D.E.L. Motors: a page for the base down the road

D.E.L. Motors homepage: a Value Your Trade button in the header, a Used Cars in Junction City, KS headline and a search bar showing 51 vehicles available
The search bar shows the live stock count: 51 vehicles available.

D.E.L. Motors in Junction City, Kansas, has been in town since 1980, and its homepage speaks to the buyers next door. The copy mentions the thousands of service members stationed at Fort Riley and links to a Fort Riley page. A red "Value Your Trade" button sits alone in the top right of the header.

The search bar shows a live count, "51 Vehicles Available," with year, make and body style dropdowns. Quick links cover pre-approval, service, "Cars Under $10k" and U-Haul rentals, which bring people onto the lot before they are shopping. The page says the site is available in English and Spanish.

Copy this: if a base, a campus or a large employer is nearby, write a page for those buyers and link it from the homepage.

9. Northside Auto Sales: buying and selling split down the middle

Northside Auto Sales homepage: the address, phone and hours in a top bar, a Drive Home Today headline with a search box, and side-by-side Buying a Car and Selling a Car panels
Two equal panels: Buying a Car on the left, Selling a Car on the right.

Northside Auto Sales in Greer, South Carolina, splits its homepage into two equal panels under the hero, "Buying a Car" and "Selling a Car." The selling side promises a cash offer, and a later block says you can bring your car to the Buy Center for an appraisal with no purchase required. The top bar holds the address, phone and today's hours.

The value points are short: "No Hidden Fees," "125-Point Inspection," "Family Owned & Operated" and "We Can Get You Approved." Each "New Arrivals" card shows mileage and a "Get e-Price" link, and a "Text Us" button sits in the corner.

Copy this: give "sell us your car" the same homepage space as buying; every car you buy from a local driver is stock you did not source at auction.

10. Long's Auto Place: a narrow promise, stated plainly

Long's Auto Place homepage: a Family Owned Since 1981 headline over a photo of the dealership office, with a paragraph on vehicles 10 years old or newer with 120,000 miles or less
The first paragraph tells you exactly which cars this lot sells.

Long's Auto Place in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, has a small site with a sharp promise. "Family Owned Since 1981!" runs across a photo of its own office, and the first paragraph says what the lot sells: vehicles "10 years old or newer with 120,000 miles or less," each with a third-party inspection and reconditioning. Saturday visits are by appointment, and the page says so.

A Mission section names the outside repair shop that inspects the cars and the "30 day/1,000 mile warranty." Reviews show the buyer's first name and source (Google or Yelp), and short "Text Us" and "Inquire" forms keep the next step easy.

Copy this: say in one sentence which cars you sell and which you do not, and name who inspects them.

Mistakes we see on car dealership websites

These are general patterns, not comments on the dealers above.

The doc fee hidden in a footer

Leaving mandatory fees out of the advertised price is what the FTC flagged when it warned 97 dealership groups in March 2026. Put the doc fee in the price on every search result and vehicle page. California's CARS Act, in effect since 1 October 2026, tightens total price disclosure, and lead auto-replies are in scope there.

"$299 a month" with nothing next to it

A payment or down payment amount in an ad is a triggering term under Regulation Z, so the ad must also state the down payment, repayment terms and APR. Payment badges on vehicle cards count. Show the assumptions next to the number.

A credit application that emails Social Security numbers

Dealers who arrange financing are financial institutions under the FTC's Safeguards Rule, and customer information must be encrypted in transit and at rest. A plain form plugin that stores or emails credit apps does not do that. Embed the secure application from your DMS, lender or credit provider.

Sold cars that stay listed, and stock photos on used cars

The FTC's FAQs say advertising a car that is no longer available to draw shoppers in is deceptive, and that used cars should show the exact vehicle. Set a written rule for sold units and never use "image for illustration" on a used car.

A template that looks like every other lot

Owners on the DealerRefresh forums complain that platform templates make every dealer look alike and that vehicle pages never rank. Add pages a marketplace will not write: your niche, your town, your financing and your reconditioning.

A domain and analytics you do not control

Many dealer sites sit on a vendor platform with the domain and analytics in the vendor's account, and rankings can vanish when you switch. Keep every account in your name and ask for a redirect plan before any move.

What we build for car dealerships

Our car dealership website development work follows this checklist for independent and used car dealers: search in the first screen, vehicle pages built from your DMS feed with the all-in price first, separate trade-in, pre-qualification and secure credit application paths, model, financing and town pages, and every call and form tracked by vehicle and source. The same system is behind our vehicle and local lead work: for Trucks India, a commercial vehicle research platform, we built 497 truck model pages, 1,299 variant pages and on-road price, EMI and running cost tools, and weekly Google clicks went from 12 to 292 in five weeks. For Blues Renewables, a local installer, area pages and full call and form tracking took the business from no tracked leads to 7 to 10 inquiries a week. That transfers directly: town pages and tracked calls and forms are what an independent lot needs to turn local searches into test drives.

People also ask about car dealership websites

How much does a car dealership website cost?

It depends on the number of pages, the inventory feed and DMS integration, the trade-in and credit application tools, and how much content needs writing. We give a fixed quote, agreed before work starts, within 1 business day, with no hourly billing.

What pages does a car dealership website need?

At minimum: home, inventory search, a page for every vehicle, financing with a secure credit application, trade-in, a pricing policy page that explains your doc fee, reviews, about and team, and a location page with hours. Add pages for in-house or bad credit financing, warranty and inspection, delivery, service, and each town you serve.

How long does it take to build a car dealership website?

Most dealer websites take 4 to 8 weeks from signed scope to launch. Sites with several lots, many model and town pages, or a complex DMS integration take 8 to 12 weeks. Ask your DMS early which inventory export it supports, because that often sets the timeline.

Should I use a dealer website platform or a custom website?

A dealer platform gets you live fast with inventory built in, usually on a monthly plan where the site stays on the vendor's system. A custom site costs more up front but is yours, can be built around your niche and town, and can still pull inventory from your DMS. Either way, keep the domain and analytics in your name.

How do I get my dealership into Google and AI search results?

Google ended its free vehicle listings in 2025, so inventory on Google now runs through paid vehicle ads that land on your vehicle pages. Keep those pages fast, put price, mileage and VIN in plain text, and add AutoDealer and Car schema. BrightLocal's 2026 survey found 45% of consumers use ChatGPT or other AI tools for local recommendations, and those tools read the same pages and reviews.

How can I get more leads from my dealership website?

Put the all-in price, a trade-in button and pre-qualification on every vehicle page, add text and call buttons, and reply fast with the full price. Then track every call, form and credit application by vehicle and source, so you know which pages sell cars.
